To help you with your needs, please have the following information when we speak (click each item in the list below to expand) and we will advise you of the most appropriate product design.
How to design your product packaging
The industry standard requires size to be determined by the INTERNAL DIMENSIONS as follows-
• Length in mm x width in mm x height in mm
• Length is the internal length in mm of the case/crate from left to right
• Width is the internal length in mm of the case/crate from front to back
• Height is the internal length in mm of the case/crate from top to bottom
External dimensions will vary subject to the type and style of manufacture used, but should be considered when designing as incorrect design could create additional freight costs due to transport issues e.g. wide load or high load. Allow additional mm for room to add protection e.g. bubble wrap or foam
How much it weighs determines the structural aspects of the construction such as extra bearers, thicker boards and more cleats for support and joining.
OH&S guidelines require any item over 50 kg should be able to be lifted with the aid of a lifting device. We recommend that the position and type of bearer should be considered in your requirements.
Consider how you will put the item into the case e.g. from the top or the front, or fixing it to the base and dropping the case/crate over the base or pulling it across.
Consider the placement of the item to ensure the most stable transport position e.g. laying down opposed to standing up.
Are there contact points with the base where the item can be fixed or braced in some way? We can add specific bearer placement to meet this need.
Having dealt with these factors we will determine what and how we construct for the safe and effective transport of your goods.
